Coming into Tomb of Sargeras, there is an influx of questions about which piece of gear to wear. Hopefully, this will provide answers to the bulk of your questions. If you have any additional questions or spot any inconsistencies: feel free to drop a comment below!
In this article we discuss three different topics:
- An explanation of the tier gear
- Q&A about tier pieces
- Info about off pieces
Let’s have a look at our tier bonuses.
Shaman T19 Restoration 2-Piece Set Bonus (old): The previous tier’s set bonus was relatively lackluster. It was worth about ~2% healing in most raid settings while being quite effective for mythic plus content.
Shaman T19 Restoration 4-Piece Set Bonus (old): This bonus was very strong. It gave us access to a large number of additional Healing Stream Totems, an incredibly efficient smart heal. This was worth anywhere from 5-7% healing in most raid settings, depending on the damage. It did not shine as much in mythic plus but was still worth using.
Shaman T20 Restoration 2-Piece Set Bonus (new): These bonuses are not as bad as they read. The 2-piece set bonus places a 15 second buff on the player, called Tidal Force. This will cause your next Riptide to crit from start to finish. It procs roughly 3 times (each duration), meaning if you Riptide off cooldown, this is a 33% buff to Riptide healing.
Shaman T20 Restoration 4-Piece Set Bonus (new): This set bonus ranges from “great!” to “meh”, but is definitely worth picking up either way. It will be a 2-8% increase, based on how effective Healing Rain is in a fight. A fantastic example of the difference is shown by these two logs. The first, which does not feature the 4-piece set bonus, is from Lytheia and the red circle indicates his average healing per Healing Rain. The second one features a log from Tym who is using the 4-piece set bonus:
Questions and answers!
When should I drop the T19 4-piece set bonus?
Being worth approximately 5-7% healing, it is hard to justify dropping the bonus even if you have a shiny upgrade in your bags. We recommend you wait until you are gaining around 3 item levels overall. It is not worth dropping this for anything less, even if you are gaining the Tier 20 2-piece set bonus.
When should I drop the T19 2-piece set bonus?
We recommend dropping this as soon as a decent upgrade comes around, as it isn’t very powerful. Roughly 1-2 overall item levels will leave the bonus healing from this set bonus in the dust.
Do I want to pick up the 4-piece set bonus?
Yes, you definitely do.
Will I always run it?
Chances are that once you have T20 4-piece set bonus, you will not unequip it.
What pieces do I want to grab?
If you have been lucky enough to get yourself the Roots of Shaladrassil, then you will run helm, shoulders, cloak, and gloves. If you find yourself running any other legendaries, simply fill in the slots that allow you to wear the best legendaries you have access to.
But what about the off pieces?
Below is a link to a “Shopping List” created by some of the authors here. In the different tabs, you can find the optimal gear based on that person’s stat priority:
- Maeveycakes: Intellect > Mastery > Crit > Haste > Vers
- Sensation: Intellect > Mastery > Haste > Vers > Crit
- Lytheia: Intellect > Crit > Haste > Mastery = Vers
- Tym: Intellect > Crit = Haste > Vers > Mastery
- Dunderz: Intellect > Crit > Vers > Haste > Mastery (being added to the sheet soon)
