Talents

What talents were used during progress in the Nighthold on mythic Skorpyron, you may ask. This fight had a low average number of wipes (0). As a result, builds weren’t slowly optimized for the fight. Most builds resemble their late-ToV builds (Cloudburst Totem), or experimental choices for this fight (Wind Rush Totem).

What talents did you run? Torent, Gust of Wind, Lightning Surge Totem, Ancestral Guidance, Earthen Shield Totem, Cloudburst Totem, High Tide.

Why did you pick Earthen Shield Totem? Mostly because of the pulsing damage from the shards.

Why did you pick Torrent? I just play torrent most of the time.

Why did you pick Cloudburst Totem? Cloudburst is my go-to talent. I spent a lot of time DPS-ing during the kill. I didn’t optimize CBT as a result.

Can you describe the type of fight? It is a fight where your raid is typically stacked fairly frequently. So you can make use of Healing Rain and Earthen Shield Totem. The first half of the fight is spot healing and light AoE. As it ramps up, there is more to heal. In general, there is AoE damage on the raid.

Usage of Healing Tide Totem? We didn’t pre-coordinate cooldowns. It was more like ‘oh, there is damage now – I should pop my Healing Tide’. There were multiple shards we were hiding behind, that was a good reason to pop my tide.

Usage of SLT, AG, CBT, EST? Nothing specific.

Usage of Spiritwalkers’ Grace? Most of my mobility was covered by Gust of Wind. But I found that if I needed to move from the shockwave, I popped SWG so I could still heal.

Usage of Gift of the Queen? Basically on cooldown with CBT (same for AG). I made sure to center my GotQ on the melee, so it would hit the tanks. The tank damage was high.

Any other comments regarding your spell breakdown? Not particularly, I could probably have done a better job at keeping Healing Rain down. I did a lot of damage because healign was not intense until the end.

What talents did you run? Unleash Life, Wind Rush Totem, Lightning Rush Totem, Ancestral Guidance, Ancestral Protection Totem, Cloudburst Totem, High Tide.

Why did you pick Unleash Life? A lot of AoE healing. I figured it would help out with the Chain Heals.

Why did you pick Wind Rush Totem? I have no idea. I was lazy and I didn’t want to respec before the later bosses. It was helpful to get people behind the crystals though.

Why did you pick Ancestral Protection Totem? I think EST might actually be good on this boss, although it feels like you would choose padding. I felt like, if I would be quick [with placing APT], I could save someone’s life.

Can you describe the type of fight? Constant AoE from the pulsing crystals. Single target [healing] on the tank. Pretty stacked up. Super easy to Chain Heal. You can keep Healing Rain down most of the time and get full value out of it.

Usage of Healing Tide Totem? Only used it once. Just popped it when it was needed. We didn’t set up a rotation.

Usage of Spirit Link? I dropped it randomly. Some people got knocked into the adds, and we had adds coming in. So I dropped my link to save people, and my HTT to heal them up.

Usage of Cloudburst Totem? You could maybe line it up with the dropping of the crystals.

Usage of Spiritwalkers’ Grace? You can use it when you have to run behind the pillars. There is no point in the fight where it is needed.

Usage of GotQ, AG? Nothing specific.

Any other comments regarding your spell breakdown? I used a lot of Chain Heal. I like Chain Heal, it’s a nice spell. I spent some time DPS’ing.

What talents did you run? Undulation, Wind Rush Totem, Lightning Surge Totem, Ancestral Guidance, Earthen Shield Totem, Cloudburst Totem, High Tide.

Why did you pick Wind Rush Totem? I thought it would be useful to have it for when we want to get behind the crystals fast. We’ll probably end up being pushed back by the boss next week, and not care about this.

Can you describe the type of fight? It is a stacked fight (behind the boss).

Usage of Healing Tide Totem? We didn’t know what to expect in terms of damage intake, so we yolo’d cooldowns. We ended up overlapping a lot of cooldowns. Generally you want to scatter them out on this fight because there is consistent damage intake. There is not too much to look out for. You can wait forever to use your Healing Tide, but there will never be enough damage to ask for a cooldown.

Any other comments regarding your spell breakdown? Riptide could have been way better, it is a bit sloppy. I pushed Chain Heal here. There wasn’t a thought process going into this healing breakdown. I did not utilize Jonat/Chain Heal very well. My Chain Heals usually overheal for 5-6%, now it is way higher.

Halucinogen

What talents did you run? Undulation (before 4-set), Graceful Spirit, Lightning Surge Totem, Ancestral Guidance, Earthen Shield Totem, Cloudburst Totem, High Tide.

Why did you pick Undulation? This is my default spec, before I acquired the set bonuses.

Why did you pick Earthen Shield Totem? Every fight that is a bit easy, I use this [talent]. Mostly because of meter padding/healing.

Why did you pick Cloudburst Totem? I expected there to be a lot more damage, but there wasn’t. I also wasn’t aware of the timers, so that didn’t help with CBT either.

Can you describe the type of fight? It looked a bit hectic. People were kind of spread. There was movement to reach the pillars. There wasn’t constant damage. I didn’t feel like you needed a cooldown at any point. There was a lot of sniping going on (druid/paladin action).

Usage of Healing Tide Totem? It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t effective. We needed to hide behind the red pillar and they expected the explosion to hit for quite some. They called my HTT, but then it didn’t do anything.

Usage of SLT, GotQ? Nothing specific.

Usage of Spiritwalkers’ Grace? It is useful. No specific structure. Movement in this fight is RNG dependent.

Any other comments regarding your spell breakdown? It was the first pull. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I didn’t know timers. We just killed the boss.

Keehn

Guild: Ðanish Terrace (Sylvanas – EU) / Current world progress rank: n/a (veteran main team, raiding in team 2) / Raid days: Wednesday, Sunday, 3.5 hours per day / Split runs: none / Number of pulls: one-shot / Logs: not public / Video of the kill: not available / Number of healers used: 5 / Setup: druid, druid, paladin, holy priest, shaman / Set bonus active: 2p / Legendaries: Elemental Rebalancers + Uncertain Reminder / Trinkets: Brine 880 + Spine 885.

What talents did you run? Undulation, Graceful Spirit, Lightning Surge Totem, Ancestral Guidance, Earthen Shield Totem, Cloudburst Totem, Ascendance (this is my default build).

Why did you pick Undulation? I don’t use Chain Heal. If you look at my spell breakdown, the combination of Healing Surge/Healing Wave is going to contribute far more than Riptide does.

Why did you pick Earthen Shield Totem? It removed a lot of damage / pressure from the healers. When the boss starts summoning all the spikes and when it shatters the red crystals. To prevent having to do a lot of healing while moving, you prevent some of damage taken with EST.

Why did you pick Ascendance? I don’t cast Chain Heal a lot, so High Tide doesn’t do anything for me. I like having an additional cooldown.

Can you describe the type of fight?  Very stacked and at times steady damage going in on the group. It is not very bursty damage.

Usage of Healing Tide Totem? We didn’t preplan Healing Tide, I just used it whenever we were pressured.

Usage of AG, Ascendance, GotQ? Nothing specific.

Usage of Spirit Link? When the adds are spawning and they start pulling the tank apart. Then just drop it and make sure the tank doesn’t die due to too many adds or unlucky hits.

Usage of Spiritwalkers’ Grace? When you have to dodge the frontal cone, or when you have to get behind the crystals when he does the smash.

Any other comments regarding your spell breakdown? I am 13 traits behind and I don’t use Chain Heal.
